"You've reached Garrus Vakarian. Leave your name and number and I'll call you back when I can."
(Have a message for Garrus and don't want to make a thread? You're in the right place! Please note the message type in the subject and the date if it's backdated.)
[She'll reveal her reason soon enough. In just moments she arrives at the office.]
Thank you for your time; I will try to keep this brief. As you likely already know, Black was responsible for a murder during my time as Guardian and I failed to locate and arrest him. I had found it... Difficult to let go.
[There's a moment of silence, as she seems to be looking for her next words.]
I still do not trust him; but I do trust you and your judgment.
That said, I had let my grudge slow down my other responsibilities, so now that the term is complete; I need to let that go. As such, I wish to request a release from my position as Deputy once the storm is clear.
[Well, that wasn't at all what he was expecting this talk to be about. He leans back in his chairs.]
Look, I know how it feels to lose a suspect or make a costly mistake, but you can't let regrets hold you down. I've been there and trust me, it isn't fun. You have to move on. I'm not saying it's easy, but dwelling on those moments just drags you down. You have to face it, accept it, and move on. I'm not going to lie: I didn't trust him either. A murderer as a Guardian? I thought Schnee was crazy. But then I got to working with him. He may be an ass, but he's proven that he actually gives a shit and cares about this place enough to not let it burn to the ground. He's had my back, and I trust him now, which I really didn't see coming.
[He crosses his arms and shrugs.]
If you want to leave I'm not going to stop you, but don't let regrets control your life. It's no way to live.
My lips are sealed. I'll just put "personal" down as your reason for leaving. No one needs to know more than that.
[There's a moment of silence.]
Listen, I know I never really said it but you did great work. You ever decide you want to come back, let me know. We'll work something out. How soon are you looking to leave us?
[While Satsuki's expression doesn't shift from Garrus' praise, it really does give her a pleasant feeling. She prides herself in how efficiently (ruthlessly so at times) she performs her duties, and others noticing it.. Well, of course it feels good.]
I appreciate that. And if you find yourself in need of my abilities, feel free to contact me.
.. And that offer is extended only to you.
[There may be a few ways to interpret what Satsuki is offering, but Garrus probably already has ways to handle scenarios where his hands might otherwise be tied due to red tape. She then passes a glance to the window.]
I was aiming for once the storm subsides and the city is back to normal.
Good, that means I won't have to awkwardly ask you to stay on a little longer than you want to so you can help out during the blizzard. Black and I are going to be staying at a friend's in Genessia City since we both live in Skyhouse Network and if the teleporters go offline we'd be stuck there, so I'm counting on you and Grievous to keep an eye on this place while we're gone. I'll try to swing by for a bit if I'm not snowed in, but I feel better knowing I have the two of you here and not just him in case I can't.
[Not that he doesn't trust Greivous to handle a snowstorm, but the more hands on deck the better. Honestly he had been planning to stay in a hotel in the city, but Yang had already stocked up on some dextro food for him so he really couldn't say no.]
I'll keep that offer in mind, though. With the way things have been going I can't help but feel like Nova is overdue for a disaster.

Date: 2018-01-29 01:07 am (UTC)I'll be leaving the office in an hour or so, but Black is out if you want to talk now. If not, you might have to wait for the blizzard to blow over.

I believe it would be best for me if I did; with this conversation just between us of course.
[A brief moment of silence.]
But I will take your advice to heart. Thank you.
still totally on time
